NBA Finals- Dallas Mavericks Vs. Boston Celtics

First game of the NBA finals tonight, who does everyone have? Boston is favored, but I have a feeling Luka and Ky are gonna come to play!

This should be a really great game! Luka’s one of my favourite players so I’m banking on the Mavs.

Celtics at home with a lot of rest. I’m going with them. I think they are going to win the series too. Celtics in 6.

Luka and Kyrie would need to replicate Lebron and Kyrie in 2016 (Games 5-7) to upset. Luka will get his points so Kyrie is the question. Jrue Holliday won’t make it easy on him.

Here is my analysis for the match tonight -

Head-to-Head Matchup

  • Guard Play: The Celtics’ perimeter defense will be tested by Luka and Kyrie. Jrue Holiday will be crucial in limiting Kyrie’s effectiveness, but Luka’s size and skill make him a tough cover.
  • Frontcourt Battle: The Celtics have an advantage here with their size and versatility. Al Horford and Robert Williams III provide rim protection and rebounding.
  • Bench Contributions: The Celtics have a deeper bench, which could be a deciding factor in maintaining intensity throughout the game.

Key Matchups

  1. Luka Dončić vs. Jayson Tatum: Both are capable of putting up big numbers. Tatum will need to be efficient and make Luka work on defense.
  2. Kyrie Irving vs. Jrue Holiday: This will be a critical matchup. If Holiday can limit Kyrie’s effectiveness, it will disrupt the Mavericks’ offense.
  3. Al Horford vs. Christian Wood: Horford’s veteran savvy against Wood’s offensive skill set will be an interesting duel.

Odds for NBA Finals Game 1: Celtics vs. Mavericks (as of June 6, 2024)

Here are the current odds for tonight’s matchup, that I will be playing with

  • Point Spread: Boston Celtics -4.5 point favorites
  • Moneyline:
    • Celtics: (-185) - To win by any margin
    • Mavericks: (+165) - To win outright
  • Over/Under: Total Points Scored - 217.5 points

Explanation:

  • Point Spread: The Celtics are favored by 4.5 points. This means that if you bet on the Celtics, they need to win by at least 5 points for your bet to win. Conversely, if you bet on the Mavericks, they either need to win the game outright or lose by less than 4.5 points for your bet to win.
  • Moneyline: Betting on the Celtics at -185 means you would need to wager $185 to win $100 if they win. Conversely, betting on the Mavericks at +165 means a $100 wager would win you $165 if they win the game.
  • Over/Under: This is a wager on the total number of points scored in the game. If you bet on the over (217.5 points), the combined score of both teams must be greater than 217.5 points for your bet to win. If you bet on the under, the combined score must be less than 217.5 points for your bet to win.

So far it’s going how I expected. Luka is getting his points but the rest of the team just isn’t scoring enough. Dallas needed Kyrie to score 25 + to have a chance and he’s averaging 14 pts per game in these first two games.

It feels inevitable that Boston will win, probably in 5 now. I’m going to take a look at Finals MVP odds to see what valuable might be there. Jrue would be my MVP right now, but I could easily see Tatum and especially Brown taking it with a couple good performances.

NBA Finals Game 3 Odds (June 11, 2024)

Here’s a breakdown of the current odds for Game 3 between the Celtics and Mavericks (as of June 11, 2024):

  • Point Spread: Dallas Mavericks -1.5 point favorites (according to most sportsbooks)
  • Moneyline:
    • Celtics: (+105) - To win by any margin
    • Mavericks: (-125) - To win outright
  • Over/Under: Total Points Scored - 212.5 points (may vary slightly by sportsbook)

Explanation:

  • Point Spread: The Mavericks are favored by 1.5 points. If you bet on the Mavericks, they need to win the game outright or lose by less than 1.5 points for your bet to win. If you bet on the Celtics, they need to win by at least 2 points for your bet to win.
  • Moneyline: Betting on the Celtics at +105 means you would need to wager $100 to win $105 if they win. Betting on the Mavericks at -125 means a $125 wager would win you $100 if they win the game.
  • Over/Under: This is a wager on the total number of points scored in the game. Betting on the over (212.5 points) means the combined score of both teams must be greater than 212.5 points for your bet to win. Betting on the under means the combined score must be less than 212.5 points for your bet to win.

Betting Tips:

  • Point Spread: This matchup is expected to be close. Consider recent performance and team matchups when making your decision.
  • Moneyline: The Mavericks are slight favorites, but the Celtics offer a potential return with a higher payout.
  • Over/Under: Analyze the scoring trends from the first two games and the offensive strengths of both teams before placing your bet.

In Game 3 of the NBA Finals on June 11, 2024, the Boston Celtics defeated the Dallas Mavericks with a final score of 108-103. Here’s how the pre-game odds fared against the actual results:

Point Spread

  • Pre-game odds: Mavericks -1.5
  • Result: Celtics won by 5 points, so a bet on the Celtics would have won.

Moneyline

  • Pre-game odds: Celtics (+105), Mavericks (-125)
  • Result: Celtics won, so a bet on the Celtics (+105) won.

Over/Under

  • Pre-game odds: 212.5 points
  • Result: Total points were 211, so a bet on the Under won.

This analysis shows that betting on the Celtics for both the point spread and the moneyline would have been favorable, while betting on the Under for the total points would also have been successful (FOX Sports).

Game 5 tonight!! Mavericks absolutely crushed the Celtics in Game 4. These are the Mavs that made it into the conference final and beat out the Timberwolves. They’ve shown what they are capable of and they just need to carry that momentum forward. Do you guys think the Celtics let them have this one so that they can win it at home or?
